6th Grade Clay Cups

In this project the 6th graders learned about slab construction clay.  So students had to flatten their clay into a sheet of clay and then they cut a circle bottom and a long strip to form the side of the cup.  We used a pop can wrapped in paper towel inside the clay to help form our vessels.  With slip and score students were able to secure their clay cups and then the decorated them with a face of some kind. Once the clay was fired we glazed these pieces to make them food safe.
