Central young kindergarten

Young Kindergarten at Central and West this week read the book "I don't draw, I color!" by Adam Lehrhaupt.  We looked at how the little boy in the story used his color to show emotions and was a very detailed artist.  We then drew our own self-portraits.  We even had fun singing Head Shoulders Knees and Toes to help us remember all the body parts we wanted to show in our pictures.

Kinder and Young Kinder Letter Molas (WEST)

For our first day in Kindergarten and Young Kindergarten, we had a lot of fun playing with paint, learning how to hold our bushes and learning the expectations in the art room.  We also made these fun Mola designs using crayons and paint.

1st Grade Patterns and Paint (West)

First Graders began art today looking at patterns and how we can create a pattern using paint and crayon.  Really it was a chance for kiddos to relearn where things are in the art room and what the art room expectations are.  Hidden inside their works of art is their initial.  Overall for a short one day of play I think these turned out pretty cute.

2nd Grade Starter Portraits (WEST)

This year in second grade we are going to be looking at how artist from different time periods created portraits.  To start us off on this 1st day of art students were given a chance to draw their initial self-portrait using paint and crayons.  I am hoping to keep all our portraits as we work and that way we can see how we grow and change as artists.

I am!  I have been working hard on Bulletin boards, I can not wait for school to start!

Artist of the Month

Artist of the Month for August is Bryce with his awesome ice cream cone artwork from last school year.  Great work Bryce!
