Kindergarten " The Miten"

In kindergarten we read The Mitten by Jan Brett.  I love this story and remember reading it when I was a kid.

The first day that we worked on this student had to fold their papers in half and draw out a mitten on the fold.  Then cut out the mitten.  Once cut they colored their mittens with repeating patterns.

On the end day we read the story and every time we heard about an animal that climbed into the mitten we drew that animal inside our mittens.  When we finished the story then students had the choice to add more animals to the inside of their mitten or finish their patterns on the outside of their mittens.
